| Difficult economic times means difficult times for many non-profit organisations. New York (soon Washington) based Freedom Forum, a support center for journalists and freedom of speech issues, closes its South Africa office.. Fortunately CNN will continue to support the Free Press Africa Award. Freedom of Press enables citizens to have educated opinions and is therefore an important part of any democratic society.
