| In a recent article about the dying of languages: "Confronting cultural rights", , Prof. Cees J. Hamelink of the University of Amsterdam writes about "Cultural Rights", which are "...an essential component in the international human rights regime, often overlooked, little known and with even weaker enforcement mechanisms than other human rights." Beside the right to "freedom of expression", it includes the right to one's own language and a right to "cultural identity". Cultural rights usually are not on top of any agenda - especially in human desaster areas, where "food, clothes & shelter" come first. Nevertheless, many cultures & languages, which are neccessary for the diversity of our planet are endangered. The declaration of cultural rights by the Federation of European Film Directors (FERA)" in June 2000 was recognized by the UNESCO and shows how important the subject internationally is considered - in a time of globalization and internationalization. We know from Nature that Diversity is beneficial for development. Ignoring the threat, many traditions and languages are facing in our modern world would be agreeing to a homogenous, but indifferent general planet culture born out of global commerce. We rather prefer the Millions of different colors coming from the rich and diverse multitude of our world's cultures.
